Romans 10:15 says, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.” Without question, we’re in the most challenging economic times of our generation. People are hurting. They’re frightened, worried, and wondering just how bad things can get. It seems like we can’t watch TV, or listen to the radio, or even read a newspaper without being saturated with all this bad news. Frankly, it can get quite depressing.

But in order to succeed in business, it’s important to maintain a positive ad upbeat attitude despite all the bad news. Years ago I had an employee who had a very bad attitude. He was always whining and complaining about things. It was like his sole purpose in life was to find something wrong with everything.

Today’s verse reminds us that it’s critical that we be the type of person that brings good news. We need to be that person that other people actually want to be around. So here’s what I did to address my employee’s negative attitude. I said to him, “I really appreciate that every time you’re around me, you’re working on having a better attitude.”

And you know what happened? He actually started having a better attitude when he was with me. Why? Because I had clearly communicated with him that I appreciated and expected that from him. After a period of time, he actually started having a better attitude around everybody else, too.

So how is your attitude and outlook right now? Are you keeping it positive and healthy? Are you the type of person that other people actually want to be around? Or do people avoid you because you’re always negative and pessimistic? Let me encourage you to look for the very best in every situation and in every person. Be a bearer of good news. When you do this, you’ll be applying the truth at work.
