Proverbs 10:22 says that the blessing of the Lord brings wealth, and He adds no trouble to it. There have been many times in my own business career when I had a great opportunity presented to me, and if I pursued it, I could make a lot of money. But on many of these occasions, something just didn’t feel quite right. So I didn’t do it. I couldn’t always put my finger on it, but deep down inside, I knew something was wrong.

I have this saying that sometimes, you just know in your knower. Call it intuition, ESP, or just a gut feeling, whatever you like. But I do believe that sometimes God speaks to us through a deep down feeling, whether or not we should do something. Maybe you can relate.

I was recently talking to a business leader who was struggling with a major decision in his company. There was this deal that was near completion, and this deal was going to add a lot of money to the company’s bottom line.

The only problem was there was something about this deal that just wasn’t setting right with him. This leader shared with me that although a lot of money could be made and a lot of employees would see their incomes increased, there was just something not right about the deal. He was actually losing sleep over the situation.

So we talked about it, we read the Scripture together, and the conclusion was, that if the opportunity was truly coming from the Lord, there would be complete peace in it. There would be no discomfort. And the truth was, this person was not feeling inner peace.

How about you? Is there a major decision or opportunity that you’re facing right now and something’s just not quite right? Maybe you can’t fully describe the feeling but you just know that you shouldn’t do it. Maybe it’s a personal decision or a business one, but you’re struggling with it and you don’t have peace.

Remember, God’s blessing adds no trouble to it. Go with that decision that gives you God’s real peace. When you do this, you’ll be applying the truth at work.
