1 Chronicles 12:32 says that the leaders understood the times and knew what they should do. As a Christian in business, it can be a real challenge making good decisions. There are many times in my own career where I have struggled doing so. I’m sure you have, too.

It’s not like God normally speaks to us in an audible voice, although sometimes I wish He would. How do you make tough decisions in the marketplace? I want to offer you a simple, four step, biblically based process to help you make these tough decisions.

Step 1: Go to God’s Word, the Bible. The Bible is God’s way of speaking to us, and when we read it on a regular basis, it has an incredible way of telling us what we should do. Step 2: Go to God in prayer. It’s a wonderful way to communicate with God. When we spend time praying to Him about a situation, combined with reading the Bible, He begins to prompt us and give us insights in what we should do.

Step 3: Seek Godly counsel. Most times we’re simply too close to a situation to see things clearly. And so we’re not able to make a wise and objective decision. So it’s important to get the input of other people that we respect and admire, particularly, from other people who are walking closely with God. Finally, step 4: Consider your own experience. We’ve all learned from our past experiences, both our successes and failures.

So apply those lessons learned to your current situation. After all, we’re human. We can never be 100% sure that we’re doing exactly what God wants us to. But if you’ll apply this simple, four-step process, you’ll be applying the truth at work.
