1 Thes 4:11 says, “Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, you should mind your own business, and work with excellence.” Business owners will tell you there is a difference between their top performers and those that don’t get promoted. Although the details vary, the essence of that these leaders say is that the more successful people in their companies don’t spend a lot of time talking about what they’re going to do, they just quietly do what needs to be done. These high performers simply go about getting the job done without a lot of flash and fanfare.

How about you? Do you spend much of your time and energy talking about what you’re going to do or do you just put your head down and get the job done? Remember this passage of scripture, which reminds us that we should simply go about our business, doing our work with pride and excellence, even if others seem to notice or acknowledge it. By doing so, you will earn the respect and admiration of others, even if they don’t take the time to acknowledge it. Also remember, God sees you, He sees your work. So keep it up, and He will reward you as He sees fit. When you do this, you will be applying the truth at work.
