Deuteronomy 1:6 says, that the Lord God said to us, “You have dwelt long enough on this mountain.” In biblical times, Moses was the leader of the Israelites. They had been released from slavery at the hand of the Egyptians, and they had been wandering in the desert for forty years not sure what to do next. God spoke these words to Moses, and He said that they had been on that mountain long enough and God was making it known that it was clearly time for them to put their past behind them and to move on to the bright future.
Too often in both our personal and professional lives, we dwell on our problems for far too long. We focus on all the things that are wrong and all that we don’t have or all that we have not yet accomplished. But God wants to see us move forward, and to stop focusing so much on the obstacles and challenges in life and the failures and mistakes of the past.
In what areas of your life is it time for you to move on? Do you have some hurt, anger, or bitterness toward something or someone in your past? Or has someone really mistreated you at some point? I don’t know all the details of your life or all that you’ve been through, but God does.
Maybe today He’s telling you that it’s time to get off that mountain; you’ve dwelt on it long enough. I encourage you to seek God’s new direction and find His promise for your life. Move on. When you do this, you will be applying the truth at work.
